If I could erase one event from history, it would be the invention of the group text. It always starts innocent: “What time are we meeting?” Two hours later, there are 96 unread messages, three side arguments, 14 memes, and somebody has changed the group name to something disrespectful. Then you finally catch up, type one response, and realize everyone moved on 45 messages ago. Leaving the chat feels rude, muting it feels necessary, and reading everything feels like a part-time job. At this point, group texts don’t need notifications, they need office hours.

I would start with the aftermath of WWI as that led to the conditions that gave the world the rise of both fascism and communism and hyper nationalism. It was the result of these conditions that led to the most extreme forms of discrimination against minority groups.
