I think everything happens for a reason, even if the reason is that life needed a little entertainment. For instance, maybe you missed the bus so you could discover a better coffee shop and NOT because you took too long picking out an outfit.
Some moments teach us something, and others just remind us to laugh at ourselves. Life can be confusing, but at least it keeps the plot interesting.
